Upcoming Events: 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you guys, but my life has been CRAZY busy recently. Between work, school, Beaver's Bend, worship team, small groups, youth staff, girlfriend, family etc. my life seems to be running faster than I can keep up.
Thats why Psalm 46 has meant a lot to me this week. If you have time please go read it, but its mainly about how God is our protector and comforter despite the chaos that goes on around us, and because of that we can do what He commands in verse 10: "Be still, and know that I am God."
This has been such an encouragement to me this week, I hope that it can be an encouragement to you.
Josh
me gustaba Psalm 46.
ReplyDeletewow...shortest post ever.
Alrighty...
ReplyDeleteSo, I have been reading about the disciples. and the one that has really stuck out to me the most is Andrew. O my goodness, he was amazing.
He wasn't an upfront guy... and even though he was in the core group, you don't find him in the arguments over greatness with the others.
He was content to do what God had made him to do. You never hear about him speaking in a large group or leading masses of people to christ ( like you do Peter) But instead, he built relationships with individuals and valued them for who they were, and led them to christ one by one. In fact almost as soon as he realized who Christ was he took his older brother Peter to Christ, and if he hadn't then all the masses that peter led wouldn't of found Christ.
Now chances are good that andrew had always lived in Peters shadow... their personalities just kinda worked that way. But that didn't keep andrew from sharing Christ with Peter.
How crazy... He was perfectly content to work in the background, he didn't care that he wasn't the "greatest" Can't we all learn from that!
Now on to the next thing... Oh my goodness you guys! How blessed are we to have the freedom that we have! We can pray anytime we want, we have the freedom to open our Bibles whenever we want (sadly we take that for granted way to often) But honestly, prayer is a serious thing... our society has made a mockery out of talking to God. So I challenge everyone (myself included) to take talking to God (Get that, talking to your creator, savior, lover, king) seriously...
I was just thinking about the Macedonian Believers, the "extra-generous-love-and-joy-to-the-extreem" peeps, and I love how they said that it was an HONOR and a JOY to give and be charitable.
ReplyDeleteAnd that just reminded me of how much of a privilege it is to sponsor N'Dupha M'kalla with my fellow heartbeatians!!! It's such a blessing to be able to do this!
