Blazing Center Number Ten!

Greetings you wonderful Person,

All right, I was sick last week and am recovering but wow! was last night intense!

Did the story of Christan, I and the anniversary gift help clarify anything for you? I hope so.

We just finished 8 biblical reasons to back up the statement,

"Pursue your Joy, God commands it."

Next week we will begin looking at,
"True Love: Duty or Delight?"

Some things to think about and answer;

Imagine your walking down a busy street, a baby is left on a car roof and the car takes off, the baby rolls off the roof and you dive and catch the baby, throwing it into a nice pile of leaves on the sidewalk landing safely. Meantime you are hit and killed by a Huge truck! Is your action necessarily an actions of love? Defend your answer.

Examine 1 Corinthians 13:3, Is it possible to give up all you have and even lay down your life and not have love? How might this affect your answer to the previous question, if at all?

Think back to lesson 2! (I know, it was a long time for me too!) How did we/you define love?

Hint: Love is not making much of someone, love is doing whatever it takes to enthrall someone with what will make them happy for eternity!

With that recap, read 2 Corinthians 8:1-9. In what 2 ways does Paul describe their giving?

Blog away about this or whatever Gd has placed on your heart! And Pass it on...

-James

  1. I believe that we could give our life without love... If we do it without love it means nothing... But I think that we should do all things in love. Faith hope and love, but the greatest of these is love!

  2. Yes! The gift analogy amazed me. Because it gave me a tangible, relate-able emotion that I could grasp. And it tied into what I am reading in my "God: As He longs for you to See Him" book. I'm on the chapter on his goodness. and one of the characteristics mentioned are God's generosity.

about the baby on the roof question: Yes I think it would be, it's that thought that counts I guess. but in this hypothetical situation is the baby killed too, or just me? if I understand the situation, I think 1 Corinthians back my answer up.

    About 2 Cor 8:1-9...

Even though they didn't have much, they gave freely, and they devoted themselves to God as their first priority.

  3. Hold, on... I am confused?!?!?!? I didn't understand if you meant that "yes, it would HAVE to be out of love, to jump in front of a car to save a babies life" or that it wouldn't have to be out of love.

  4. wait, say that again, I don't understand your question, Laura? or was it not directed at me?

  5. sorry, yes it is directed at you!
Do you think that the act of saving the baby was definitely out of love?

  6. I found these two John Piper quotes on my friend's facebook, and knew they should be a part of our discussion.

    #1:
"The cross is when the wisdom of God found a way to satisfy the justice of God to the satisfaction of the love of God."

Right now, our Sunday school class is studying the attributes of God. For me, this quote sums up perfectly how God can be wise, just and loving at the same time. It was a "wow" moment for me. God is perfect.

    #2:
"God created us to live with a single passion: to joyfully display His supremem excellence in all spheres of life. The wasted life is the life without this passion. God calls us to pray and think and dream and plan and work not to be made much of, but to make much of him in every part of our lives."

God is glorified when we are fully satisfied in Him. We can pursue life to the fullest, and have joy! Being a Christ follower is more than going to church and reading your Bible (although those are important), it's about living life-at school, at home, at work-that is God glorifying and fully satisfying.

That just spoke to me today. Hope it speaks to you too. :)

  8. Random Question for all to answer:

Do you find it easier to love people if you know that you are loved?

    ReplyDelete
  9. umm, I don't think it really makes a difference to me if the person in question loves me, What matters to me is that, I have been given this amazing free gift, who am I to keep it away from others?

  10. Honestly...Yes!

Knowing the Love God had, has and will forever have for me that no one nor power can ever separate or destroy and no one can even imagine the depth...Yes, somehow it aids.

Maybe b/c I am know with out excuse, He first loved me in spite of me nailing Him to the cross!

Now, people are a little different but I find it more demanding and joyful since He first loved me!

Good question April "personal space junky" Paul!
