The Blazing Center Dia 3

Alrighty Heartbeatians!

As we prepare for tomorrow nights sweet Teach, let's consider a few more questions!

Here we go...

Psalm 17:11 says that "God is a righteous judge." But can a righteous judge let criminals go free?

Imagine your in a courtroom in G-Town and a convicted murderer is standing before the Judge. There is no doubt that he committed the horrific murder and he deserves to be severely punished. BUT the Judge looks at the murderer and says "You can go free. I forgive you." Now truly, how would you react?

If Jesus hadn't died, then would God be able to forgive us of our sins? Why not? Read Romans 3:21-26, especially concentrating on verse 25!

According to the passage, why was it necessary for Jesus to die for your sins?

Good stuff, leave a comment about the questions or what ever is going on in your heart and minds! We love hearing from you.

See you tomorrow night,

-James

  1. Man, according to Romans 3 it looks like God really is sovereign. We know this is true because his word is true. This book is amazing...the prophecies that have been fulfilled prove it. The timeline also makes his word more convincing. Did you know that no other "religious" book or collection of books has been written so close (time wise) to the one it was written about. I know it in my head, I just wish I yearned for it more in my heart...

  4. "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day."
Even still, this says that God judges the righteous... It still doesn't talk about God being a righteous Judge... Obviously God is perfect there for, he would be a righteous Judge, but is that really what they are dealing with here?

  5. Well...I am along the lines that it does talk about Him being a righteous judge! That just an old man opinion. In sake of tearing the verse apart, let's look at several other translations;

Here are some other versions that help reword the meaning of the verse in question:

NIV© God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day.
NAS© God is a righteous judge, And a God who has indignation every day.
GWT© God is a fair judge, a God who is angered by injustice every day.
KJV God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
AKJ God judges the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
ASV God is a righteous judge, Yea, a God that hath indignation every day.
BBE God is the judge of the upright, and is angry with the evil-doers every day.
DRB God is a just judge, strong and patient: is he angry every day?
DBY God is a righteous judge, and a ùGod who is indignant all the day.
ERV God is a righteous judge, yea, a God that hath indignation every day.
WBS God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
WEB God is a righteous judge, yes, a God who has indignation every day.
YLT God is a righteous judge, And He is not angry at all times.

  6. It seems to me that most new translations say God is a righteous judge, not that He judges the righteous, leading me to conlcude that that is probably the better translation.

  7. Here's a summary of a story my dad told me: A judge has just pronounced a man guilty and the man has to serve a time or pay a fine. Well, in the end the judge writes a check out for the amount of the fine and the man is let off the hook. That seems like the way God is. We still have punishment that we deserve, and God doesn't forget about it, but instead He pays our fine so we can go free. Does this make sense?

  8. Jesus had to die if there was any hope for us. Sin demands blood. Painful but simple concept.

  9. Very true April but don't forget that Jesus' death (and subsequent resurrection and entrance into heaven) didn't just satisfy God's wrath, it defeated the devil and freed us from the fear of death!(Heb. 2:14-15). Too often we boil down Jesus' death, resurrection and ascension as merely satisfying God's wrath, but it did so much more!

  10. That was a great disscusion. I think one of the best I've heard!!!!! I heard some interesting things. Who kew that the galaxy was so big. But also how small and pitiful we are compared to the supremacy of the almighty God!!!
