From every area of life we are bombarded with it, T.V., movies, school, commercials, literature, (any one say Twilight:), psychology, teenage crushes, tacos, out of everyone's mouth! Everyone seems to have their own opinion of what love really is. Let us look at what the bible has to say about God's love...we may find it surprising!
How would you define love? Then, how would our culture define love? Are they different.
Do you feel loved by God b/c you believe He makes much of you, or b/c you believe He frees you and empowers you to enjoy making much of Him? And if so, Do you see it lived out daily?

How does verse 5 relate to verse 6?If Jesus really loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus, why did He stay "2 days longer in the place where He was"?

when I think of real love, I think of feelings, of actions, and of a life style that are unconditional....
ReplyDeleteI am so weak, I am nothing by myself, I can do nothing by myself, but God has an abundant amount of power and joy, and love that is overflowing, and he takes great joy in us when we come to Him with prayer and an empty cup, because He loves us, he wants to fill us with his power.
If we were strong by ourselves, we wouldn't need a God, if we never went through struggles, we would never call on God.
I feel loved by God because no matter how badly I mess up, no matter how little, or useless I feel, I know that God is strong and is not judging me by my life anymore.

ReplyDeleteSo many things here, I like when you said "actions" as love.
Also, I agree about our complete depravity has to be complete or else we might get the pride bug and find no need for God, through our weakness He is strong!
Grace is a beautiful thing when we stubmle and go our own way!
His grace and love are great lenses to magnify His glory through! If that makes sense?
The John Piper's response to Micheal Prowse letter was awesome! I had not looked at it that that way before, that we won't be happy until we give Him our all! that is good stuff, right there!
